The interest given to a life beneficiary of the rights over a particular property (can also be called a life tenant). The individual has the right under state law to have full control of the property during their lifetime. On the death of the beneficiary, the property title will revert to the remainderman (this is the person named in the trust agreement, deeds, or other property legal documents who becomes the owner when the life estate ends)
