Qualified Terminable Interest Property

Also known as QTIP. This refers to a property that is held in a marital trust or a life estate arrangement that meets the qualification criteria for the marital deduction. The surviving spouse is the sole beneficiary and is entitled to all the income. These are common in second marriage situations.
